Totu Tales is an audio story app for children, set up and managed by a parent. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep about your family, why, and how you can see it or delete it.

In short

We keep only what the app needs to work: how you sign in, your children's profiles, and what they have listened to.
No ads. No tracking. No analytics tools. No location. We never sell or rent your data.
A parent sets up the app and gives consent for each child's profile.
You can download or delete everything from inside the app, at any time.

1. Who we are

Totu Tales is a brand of Shraddhey Enterprise, a partnership firm registered in India. Shraddhey Enterprise decides how your data is used and is responsible for it under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

2. What we collect

About the parent

Mobile number or email address, so we can send you a one-time sign-in code.
Your consent record: that you confirmed you are an adult and agreed to set up profiles for your children, and when.
Subscription status: whether you have an active plan. Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card, UPI or bank details.

About your children

Year of birth, asked once during setup.
Listener profiles: a nickname you choose and an age group. Please don't use a child's full name.
Listening activity: which stories were played, favourites, and where each story was paused so it can pick up again.

From the app itself

App settings, such as whether stories download only on Wi-Fi.
Basic technical records our servers need to run safely, such as sign-in sessions and error logs. If the app crashes, Apple or Google may share a crash report with us through their own built-in tools.

3. What we don't collect

No advertising, and no advertising or tracking tools in the app.
No third-party analytics.
No location, contacts, photos or microphone.
No voice recordings of your child. The app only plays audio, it never records.

4. Why we use it

To sign you in and keep your account secure.
To keep separate profiles, favourites and resume points for each child.
To show stories suited to your child's age group.
To check your subscription and unlock stories.
To answer your questions, and to send messages about your account, such as sign-in codes. We don't send marketing messages without asking you first.
To meet our legal obligations, for example keeping a record that consent was given.

We use data only on the basis of your consent, or where the law requires or allows it. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account (see Your rights).

5. Children and parental consent

The app is meant to be set up by a parent or legal guardian, not by a child. Before any child profile is created, the app asks the adult to confirm they are over 18 and to give consent on the child's behalf.

We don't use children's data for advertising, profiling or tracking, and we don't show children any ads. If you believe a child has used Totu Tales without a parent's consent, write to us and we will delete that data.

We never sell your data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the app, and only what each one needs:

Cloudflare: runs our servers and delivers the audio and pictures.
Supabase: hosts our database.
SMS and email providers: deliver your sign-in codes.
Apple App Store, Google Play and RevenueCat: handle and confirm subscriptions.

These providers work under our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes. We may also share data if an Indian law, court or government authority requires it.

7. Where it is stored

Your account and your children's profiles are stored in a database in Mumbai, India. Audio and pictures are delivered through Cloudflare's worldwide network, which may pass requests through servers outside India. Data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to the people who need it to run Totu Tales.

8. How long we keep it

While your account is open, we keep your data so the app works as you expect.
When you delete your account, we permanently delete your sign-in details, every child profile, favourites and listening history. Past listening activity is anonymised so it can no longer be linked to you or your child.
What we keep after deletion: a record that consent was given and that the account was deleted. The law requires us to keep this, and it contains no listening history.
Data downloads you request from the app are removed after 7 days.

9. Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

See and download your data: in the app, go to Settings → Your data → Download my data.
Correct it: edit profiles in the app, or write to us.
Delete it and withdraw consent: in the app, go to Settings → Your data → Delete my data, or follow the steps on our Delete your account page.
Raise a concern: in the app under Settings → Your data → Raise a concern, or contact our Grievance Officer (below).
Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you are unable to.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

10. This website

totutales.com has no ads, analytics or tracking cookies. If you pre-register, we receive the WhatsApp number and/or email you enter, sent to our inbox through a form service called Web3Forms. We use it only to tell you when Totu Tales launches, and we delete it on request.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.

12. Contact and grievances

For any question about your data, or to make a complaint, contact our Grievance Officer. We will acknowledge your message within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days.
